2:00-2:05 Announcements
- Sustainability Curriculum Workshop for Faculty (Mark Perri): Santa Clara University is offering a one-day training on 6/17/2020 for faculty in all disciplines interested in incorporating sustainable topics into existing curriculum. The Center for Environmental Inquiry is providing funding to cover registration and travel (carpooling only).
Action: All members let faculty know about the training opportunity and have them contact Mark. - Meeting Notes (Barbara Frohlech): Barbara has volunteered to take notes for PSAC meetings. Minutes will reside in PSAC Google Drive and Sustainable SSU website. Barbara requests that reports will be submitted with Google Links.
- PSAC Membership (Judy Ford): Shay Furze resigned from student PSAC positions. Mikayla Martin has been approved by Associated Students for replacement.
- Upcoming Events
- North Bay Forward: Mar 11, ETC: Topic: Identity and Natural Spaces.
- SSU Earth Week April 20-24: Report from Madison on today’s agenda @ 3:00pm.
- Sustainability Enterprise Conference May 7, 8-5 pm, SoMo Village (Judy Ford): Opportunity to present at conference.
Action: All members let constituencies know about upcoming events
- Recognition – Alums and Hidden Heroes (Judy Ford): Nomination form available on Sustainability Website for Hidden Heroes in Sustainability nominations. Action: All members encourage constituencies to nominate Hidden Heroes on the Sustainable SSU website
2:05-2:30 Updates
- PCLC Gantt Chart and target dates (Claudia Luke): The leadership team has created a Gantt Chart to track progress, coordinate activities, and set deadlines for the Presidents’ Climate Leadership Commitment. In shared Google folder: /our-commitment-climate-action/council-documents
- PCLC Annual Reporting (Craig Dawson): The next PCLC deadline is the annual report due April 4, 2020. This first year’s report content is an assessment of SSU’s Green House Gases. The draft report is complete.
- Scope 1-3 Green House Gas Report:
- STARS Reporting and Recommendations for Working Groups
- Draft report is being peer-reviewed by colleagues at Chico State SSU now meets a Silver STARS rating, and is 5 points below Gold. Will request re-evaluation in 18 months to achieve Gold standing.
- A list of recommendations for how to improve our STARS rating to gold was created by Rinika Pulupudi.
Action: All working groups review the STARS recommendation report to see how their activities can improve STARS rating.
- Other Operations
- Craig will begin leading regular brown bag discussions called “Trash Talks” that focus on increasing campus awareness of waste and recycling. He is available to come to any group requesting information.
- Move out day Call for volunteers to support move out day.
Action: All members help spread the word that Craig is looking for volunteers for Move Out day.
- Event Reports:
- Higher Education Sustainability Leadership Summit (Judy Ford, Claudia Luke, Craig Dawson). Report tabled due to time limits.
- Preview Day (Judy Ford, Barbara Frohlech, Monica Wahl). Report tabled due to time limits.
2:30-3:00 Constituency Reports
- Staff Council (Barbara Frohlech): Joyce Lopes attended Staff Council meeting to answer questions about SSU divestment (see attached report) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1aX_GHPcmebJtuzHsA8PUJ6IaTOCEd9nD
- Associated Students (Cody Darling):
- Cody presented the Fall 2019 snapshot to the GEP club. It was helpful in focusing student actions in areas where they can be most effective.
- Poor student turnout at sustainability volunteer events. JUMP has cancelled the Copeland Creek volunteer event due to poor turnout. The campus garden has had greater success posting volunteer events as trainings. Will be hosting a how-to mulching training with donated mulch.

Action: Jenifer Barnett will provide information regarding Wolf Buck rewards. - Merith reminds all that Federal Work Study is available.
- Academic Senate (Kevin Fang):
- APARC: Custodial Staff and composting evaluation regarding increase in workload capacity/time demand on custodial staff not sustainable.
- Rebranding under way - hold off on logo purchased items.
- PSAC Report-Back for Feb: This month Kevin Fang reported to the Academic Senate, Barbara Frohlech reported to Staff Council, Cody Darling reported to GEP Student Club, Craig Dawson report to Facilities Management.
Action: Leadership team will clarify lines of reporting needed for members to more effectively reach their constituencies.
