A Sustainable Wine Center

The new Wine Center has a lot to offer Sonoma State and the community other than good wine and the best patio seating on campus. Seriously, like super nice seating.

The Wine Center offers two MBA programs, Professional and Executive, and both tracks are geared with sustainability in mind. In my interview with John Sayto, Executive Director of Graduate & Executive Programs, it became incredibly clear each student who receives one of these MBAs is well versed in sustainable business practices and ready to adopt these practices, not just for the wine industry but in any industry, they choose to enter. Our Sonoma State graduates are truly out in the industry changing how businesses are managing themselves.

Both MBA programs focus heavily on getting students ready to incorporate sustainability when they enter into the industry. For example, Sustainable Business Management students are learning how to calculate a business’s carbon footprint, which will allow them to identify areas where business practices can be improved in their real-world operations. Along with other skills learned during the course, student know exactly how to be a sustainable manager at a company by lower waste and outreach to the community. In Leading Sustainable Enterprises students are learning how to lead an entire company into a sustainable mindset through practical experience. This MBA program teaches student to see the whole picture when encountering sustainability in a corporation.

Great real-world research is also coming out of these MBA programs, in particular dealing with resilience and greenhouse gas emissions. Here’s a link to the research portion of their website. https://sbe.sonoma.edu/research.
