Approaches to SDG-Based Curricular Pathways and Research Communities

This webinar is free.

Universities are increasingly being called to develop integrative approaches toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their research, educational, and operational capacities. This webinar will present on the University of Toronto’s SDG-based sustainability course inventory, which was awarded a Campus Sustainability Research award from AASHE in 2019, and how the inventory is being used to create curricular pathways. We will provide a brief background to the development of a sustainability course inventory, present University of Toronto’s inventory findings, and discuss how we are developing these sustainability curricular pathways to encourage University of Toronto’s 70,000 undergraduate students to pursue a sustainability-focused education regardless of their program of study. We will also present new initiatives, including an SDG-based sustainability research inventory that is being used to identify leading researchers from University of Toronto’s 15,000 faculty members, research gaps, and strategic research opportunities across the SDGs at the University of Toronto.

This webinar is part of a series of webinars on sustainability in the curriculum put on by SCC Sustainability Curriculum Consortium and AASHE Assoc. for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
