With climate change effects becoming progressively more apparent, concerned citizens are actively searching for ways to improve their environmental consciousness. Because there are many ways to develop sustainable habits, implementing changes can be overwhelming. However, by simply initiating a conversation, ideas can transform into impactful developments.

The Daily Acts Climate Action Concert, held at SOMO Village in Rohnert Park, united community members with a common goal. This resulted in a plethora of climate-related conversations. Attendees explored informational booths, sustainable product vendors and local organizations. Public speakers took to the stage throughout the day in order to share what climate activism looks like in their lives. These presentations ranged from ecological efforts to sacred Native American traditions.

Cody Darling, a Geography, Environment and Planning student at Sonoma State was impressed by the interactive educational opportunities, “I had a great time learning about sustainable alternatives like composting and upcycling. I also learned about ways to engage those around me in productive talks about climate change”.

Although the main purpose of this event was to inspire climate action, it evolved into much more. With delicious food and drink vendors, five bands and an active dance floor, the Daily Acts Climate Action Concert created a space for people to celebrate continuous efforts made to protect our planet.
