Osborne Preserve

Explore Sonoma Mountain at SSU’s Fairfield Osborn Preserve, only a 15 min drive from campus. The Preserve is known for its erosive geology, habitat diversity, and aquatic insect communities. On your tour, your student naturalist guide will lead you into the heart of the Preserve, sharing stories about the area’s geology, ecology, human history, and on-going research and management.

No registration is required. Tours last approximately 4 hours. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring food, water, and sunscreen or rain gear (depending on the weather). There is no cost, but donations are appreciated.

Directions:
• From campus, go east on Cotati Ave.
• Turn right (south) on Petaluma Hill Road and go 0.5 mi
• Turn left on Roberts Road.
• Take Roberts Road approximately 1 mile and turn right on Lichau Road.
• Follow Lichau Road 3.8 miles almost to the end. Lichau Road twists and turns. When you see Eagle Ridge Road to your left and white corral fence, keep to the right to stay on Lichau. As you reach the end, the road will become narrow.
• The Osborn Preserve sign and front gate will be on your right. Proceed through the gate and go a short distance to the parking lot.
